Benefits of Coconut Oil

The use of coconut oil seems to increase slightly from year to year. Most of this increased use is contributed to people stumbling onto new uses for it or word of mouth promotion from people who have tried it.

The actual benefits of coconut oil aren't very well-known and aren't publicized as much as they, probably, should be.

Several areas of the body can utilize the health benefits of coconut oil. These areas of the body include the kidney, liver, skin, and hair. It is popular with athletes because it is lower in calories and the fat is broken down easier than other common oils. Coconut oil is also an antioxidant for the body and can be used for a disinfectant.

Probably, the most commonly known benefit of this oil has to do with our hair. Coconuts create one of the best known natural nutrients for human hair. There are a lot of hair care products available that use this oil. Oil from coconuts promotes growth of the hair and gives established hair a nice shine. Dry scalp and dandruff are other problems that can be helped by the use of oil from coconuts.

The skin is another part of the body that can use coconut oil to secure its own health. This oil has been proven to be a great moisturizer and is commonly used by masseuses as massage oil. There are no side effects to worry about and it is a popular alternative medicine for wrinkles associated with aging. This oil can also be used to treat eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis.

One of the benefits of coconut oil that is often overlooked is its high concentration of lauric acid. Lauric acid is great for the heart. It is known to help prevent heart disease and hypertension. Lauric  acid also reduces cholesterol levels.

Oil from coconuts has many benefits for the human body. These are just a few of those benefits. If you have never used coconut oil don't be afraid to give it a chance.
